Green Peas Photography Has Moved! {Grey-Bruce Child & Family Photographer}

This blog has been neglected unfortunately for well over a year now :( Two years ago our family relocated to New Jersey and my original intention to continue my business here in Canada was probably a little optimistic at best! A new addition to our family and the long drive back to Canada certainly hampered my ability to take on any new clients as I had hoped. The good news is we are back in Canada! I hope to have my business back up and running over the next few months. However, my geographic area of focus has changed and I will no longer be taking on new clients in the Newmarket & greater GTA area - it is unfortunately just too far to travel :(

I will now be serving the Grey-Bruce County area including Port Elgin, Kincardine, Southampton, Owen Sound, Sauble Beach and Walkerton. From the little time I have spent here, I already love it. The beaches are beautiful and the wide open fields extend for miles - not to mention all of the hiking & biking trails that stretch up to Tobermory. The photo opportunities are endless :)

Thank you to all of my past clients for supporting me over the past several years. I was truly blessed to have met all of you and to have been given the opportunity to capture the smiles and laughter of your children. I will miss all of you! If I plan to be in the Newmarket area, I will definitely let you know of my plans - please keep in touch!

Over the next few months I will be busy packing and moving into our new house and getting our kids settled. If anyone in my new area is looking for Christmas photos, please contact me as soon as possible as I will only be taking on limited sessions before the holidays.

My kids - like yours - are growing up far to quickly :( They will be 5 & 2 next month and I still have no idea where the time went. Here is my most recent favourite photo of them - completely spur of the moment snap shot, but when I look at it, I am reminded that they do really love each other even when they are tormenting each other - lol!

My baby girl is 3 months old today - she is growing up just way too fast, but she is an absolute bundle of joy! She is such a happy and content little girl and we are just so lucky that she's all ours! It's still going to be a little quiet here on the blog for another few months while I soak up as much of her cuteness as I possibly can while she is still little! I plan to start booking sessions again beginning in May - thank you to all of my clients for their patience and best wishes during my mat leave!

Our Newest Little Family Member!

Two weeks ago today I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl Aurora, 8lbs 1oz of pure pink squishiness! She is absolutely adored by every member of our family - her big brother Aidan wants to hug & kiss her all the time (let's hope it's not just a honeymoon period!)

I have been very lucky these past few weeks to have had our parents here to help out, which has given me the chance to sit and enjoy her to the fullest extent - she has been very good to Mommy and has even allowed me to get some sleep at night too! I am feeling very good (probably thanks to all my rest) and Rory is doing very well too - she eats & poops even more than her brother did! (For all of my previous newborn clients out there - she pooped & peed on every single one of my blankets the minute I took her diaper off!)

I have taken 100's of photos of her already so it was hard for me to select a few to share especially when the photos are of my own kids! Here are a few of my many favourites - enjoy :-)

I'm sitting here 1 day away from my expected due date of our 2nd child waiting impatiently for the newest member of our family to arrive! I thought I would try and distract myself from my current exhausted and annoyed state of mind by sharing a few photos with you from my sessions this summer :-) I have been a terrible blogger this year! Life has been busy and I chose to slow things down a bit this year to adjust to the new living arrangements here in New Jersey and to enjoy these last few months with my son. I did get the chance though to catch up with a few of my favourite clients on my visits back to Canada and hopefully starting next spring will continue to do so next year!

Enjoy the photos in this multi post and check back over the coming weeks for photos of our new addition! (My mom has been knitting up a storm and I can't wait to try out the new props!)

Congratulations to my cousin & his wife and their newest little member of their family! Welcome to the family Baby "E"!

I love this family and it was so nice to be able to spend a morning with them at the end of this summer. Thanks for having me back guys - looking forward to seeing you again next year - next time at the farm???

This little miss belongs to a very good friend of mine. I wasn't sure if she was going to arrive before I left to come back to New Jersey, but to my delight she did and I was so happy to be able to capture a few special moments for her mommy to remember just how little & precious she was at 4 days old :-) Miss you M - can't wait to see you after our little one arrives! (My mom knitted the bowl for me in time for the session - thanks mom!)

These beautiful children have graced my blog many times and belong to another good friend from our old neighbourhood. We miss them very much so it was so nice to be able to catch up with them when we were home and to get out for a quick photo session!

Look who's all grown up! This little gal was from my very first maternity session last August and I can't believe how much she has changed over this past year! She is such an adorable little girl and I was so happy when mom emailed and asked if I would take her 1yr photos.

I was originally contacted by this mom last fall and after rescheduling twice due to weather, we decided to wait and try again in the spring. Well the spring turned into late summer due to our move, but in the end I think that worked out for the best! This little man was BUSY and for anyone that knows my son, I didn't think it was possible to meet another little boy busier than my own! He had such a vibrant personality and I fed off his energy (at 8months pregnant I needed all the energy I could get!!!). We had a great time at the beach in the late afternoon sun and I was so happy to be able to capture the love that this family obviously shares - thanks so much for a great afternoon!

Green Peas has been on hiatus...for a little while...

I know I've been a little absent on the blog lately - apologies to all of my blog followers. I have some news to share....as most of my clients know, our family has moved to New Jersey (for a few years). The past five months have been insanely busy selling our house in Canada and buying a new one in the U.S. and trying to get settled with a toddler and dog in tow.

I am also happy and excited to share with everyone that I am pregnant and expecting our 2nd child in November. I was a little under the weather for quite awhile and the thought of doing anything that required getting off the couch made my stomach turn! Now that I am back to normal, I'm ready to pick up my camera again and get back to doing what I love to do best (besides spend time with my family!)

For those wondering what my plans are in terms of my business, I will still be offering sessions to my clients in Canada during my visits home (probably 4-5 weeks throughout the year). I will post the dates as soon as I know, but please feel free to contact me if you have your own date in mind - I will definitely do my best to accommodate you!

I of course can't post without a few photos, so.....

I was home visiting friends and family a few weeks ago, but spent one fabulous day with the "G" family and their brand new baby girl "E". She was 3 weeks old by the time I got my hands on her which is a little older than I like to shoot newborns, but she was such a doll. Not too interested in sleeping all that much and of course a newborn shoot is never complete without mom or dad having to change at least once (okay maybe twice!). Here's a quick peek from their session.

I apologize to all of my blog followers for my lack of posts this past month, but these past few months have been nothing more than chaotic! I never thought I would be turning away business, but unfortunately I have had to do that more times than I can count these past few weeks. I'm starting to wind things down for the holidays - I am really looking forward to spending some time with my family! My husband & I took a much needed holiday to Aruba a few weeks ago - it was definitely hard to come back to all this snow and freezing temperatures!

Just as any fyi for everyone, I am currently reviewing my pricing structure for 2009 and will be posting that on the blog and the website in the next few weeks, so please check back before the end of the year for 2009 rates & packages.

My beautiful neice & sister-in-law were here this weekend for a visit and my son loved having his cousin and Auntie to play with. He was a little jealous though when mommy played too much with his cousin "L" - I'm not sure he's ready for a sibling yet! We took a few quick pics of "L" in her Christmas party dress so I thought I would share! Doesn't she look like a little Christmas cherub?!

Mom & I met a few years ago at a baby music class and have been friends ever since - her oldest daughter has been a great little model for me over the past few years and can be seen on the website :-) So when J told me she was pregnant again I knew I wanted to take photos as soon as this little one arrived. I was so happy when she agreed to come over last week when Baby "E" was just 7 days old - she is just a tiny ball of cuteness and slept the whole time - absolute dream! Congratulations J & J - she's beautiful!

A few weeks ago we went to Stratford for our yearly trip to the festival and lucky for me we also managed to squeeze in a quick visit with a very good friend that I haven't seen in years! We've both had kids over the past few years - J has had a few more than me! Second time around they had twins and between their 3 little girls they don't stop running! I took advantage of the opportunity and snapped a few quick photos - I thought my son was active - these girls could definitely give him a run for his money! Yesterday was my son's 2nd birthday - we're having a party for him this weekend, but we couldn't let the day go by without a few candles and some cake! His eyes lit up when he saw all that icing - I can't wait to see his face on Saturday when we decorate the house with balloons and streamers just for him! I love photographing newborns, especially when they are only a few days old - this little guy was just over a week old when I saw him last weekend. He put up a bit of a fight in the beginning (I wonder if that has anything to do with having Notre Dame fans for parents!), but once mom finally got him settled, he let us move him around without too much trouble. I had a really hard time picking just a few of my favourites to share so here's a few too many!

This family will always be special to me - they were my very first newborn clients and they are just the nicest family you could every meet! It was great to catch up and to see how much Baby "J" has grown over the past 7 months. We met at a local conservation area and although I was a little worried about the temperature (it was only 6 degrees when I left that morning), Mom was prepared and had "J" dressed in lots of layers & the cutest sherpa hat to keep him warm. Mom & I talked a lot about which weekend to have this session and I think we lucked out because the fall colours were definitely at there peak, which certainly made for a colourful backdrop!

I met this family for the first time about 6 months ago (remember the baby in the teacup?) - this time mom thought it might be kind of fun to get the kids outside and so we met up at a local pumpkin farm. I just wanted to wish everyone that stops by the blog this weekend a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! I'm taking some time off to spend a few days with my family and to maybe take a few family photos for our own Christmas card - the weather is supposed to be beautiful so I hope to make the most of it!

I promised mom a quick sneak peek from our session yesterday. Little "D" was a smiley little guy and was a pleasure to photograph! This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing not one, but two terrific families! I couldn't have asked for nicer clients & all the kids were super cute!

My session today was super fun - mom had mentioned that their house didn't have a lot of natural light, so I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived and this couple had already rearranged their kitchen and added a big area rug for their daughter's big photo shoot in front of the large patio doors - perfect!

Little miss "R" had the biggest blue eyes and was 8months old (just like the little guy below - talk about a perfect weekend for me!) Mom had lots of cute props on hand and at the end of the session we headed over to the park for some great family shots - I hope you enjoy this sneak peek "L&C" - I'm having a hard time choosing which ones to edit for your gallery - they're all great!

I walked up to this family's house on Saturday with a huge grin on my face - they backed onto a ravine and the fall colours were just starting to turn. Then I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I saw their masterbedroom had wall to wall windows! The lighting was a photographer's dream! Not to mention their adorable son "J" is 8months old which is probably my favourite baby age to photograph (they are just full of personality & usually can't crawl away on me!) His big sister "L" was full of spunk and made me run for my money, but that's o.k. because I got some great shots of her too!

I had a busy few days this weekend with lots of sessions, which would explain the 4 posts in one night! I have a lot of late nights ahead of me this week to edit!

This little one had a beautiful smile - I just didn't get to see it! My son & I love these kids - we usually meet up once a week for a walk and my son immediately runs after Miss "S" to hold her hand - I think he really wants a big sister! When mom asked me to take their photos again this year, I was quite happy to oblige - I love "go with the flow clients" and she is certainly a favourite! We had a great time this morning (minus a few bumps to the noggin' for little "J") playing at the park and going for a stroll in the woods!

It rained all day, but thankfully stopped for an hour during our session so we could head to the park as planned - the ground was wet and full of goose poop so cuddling on the ground with kids was definitely out of the question! Sneak Peek | Newmarket Family Photographer

This week has been a bit crazy for me - 3 sessions to edit and hubby has been gone all week - I can barely keep my eyes open at the moment! I'm a bit late with posting this sneak peek for mom - sorry "S" - you're getting your gallery tomorrow though :-)

We had to reschedule this session 4 times - mom desperately wanted sunny summer photos and we were plagued by rain every time! This time looked like it was going to be the same - I could see the dark storm clouds moving in as I drove to their house, but thankfully the rain held off and we managed to do the entire session outside - yeah! These are kids are just beautiful and they were such a pleasure to photograph - thanks "M&L&E" for a great morning!

Mom wanted lots of hands & feet photos and I was happy to oblige!

I first met mom almost 2 years ago in a Mothergoose class - our sons were born only 10 days apart! We had talked about getting together many times, but the months slipped by and I haven't seen her for about 9 months. So I was pleasantly surprised when she contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would come and take photos of "J" with his new baby brother!

I knew I would have a tough task ahead of me - I know first hand how hard it is to take pictures of a 22month old! "J" warmed up to me pretty fast though and in no time at all, he was running around and getting dirty - generally just being a boy!

Here's "J's" new baby brother - everyone meet Baby "S"! How cute is he!

aaahhh...brotherly love :-)

This little lady gave mom & dad quite the surprise and came a month early! She's a strong little girl though and is showing her determination already - she would not let me move her little arms or legs no matter how hard I tried! Look Mom - Frogs! - Newmarket Child Photographer

I'm back from an amazing week away at the cottage with my family and some great friends! We spent the whole week relaxing on the beach, enjoying a few cocktails and watching our kids play - the word "relax" may be a bit of stretch for my husband & I - my son is only 22 months and can't sit still for more than 2 seconds! But when the kids found the frogs under the paddle boats, we couldn't tear him away for anything! He is definitely "all boy"! He wanted to play with those frogs all day! I never thought I would be one of those moms that would help her son catch the critters, but when they look up into your eyes with such innocence and plead with you to help catch the frog that got away - how can you resist?!!!

I of course couldn't pass up catching a few pics to add to the scrapbook! For anyone that is a bit squeamish of frogs - look away now!

On Vacation....

Next week I will be taking a much needed break and heading up north to cottage country! I will be away from August 23rd to September 1st and will have no internet access, so all phone calls and emails will be returned after the long weekend. I am looking forward to spending lots of time with my family and some great friends!

Newborn Sneak Peek - Newmarket Newborn Photographer

I have been looking forward to the birth of this little girl for quite awhile - her mom was my first maternity client :-) "A" was just 10 days old when I saw her yesterday - she was the same size as my son when he was born - how quickly you forget how tiny they once were! As is often the case with newborn sessions - she was just too interested in what was going on to sleep, but eventually she gave into mom's persistence. Sleeping & posed in position we were ready to go, but little "A" had other ideas and she let loose on daddy! Yes - that is a pee trickle in the shot below - Dad was a trooper though and carried on like a champ - I think he knew that if he moved he'd wake up the sleeping baby! I should mention this was the 3rd time Dad & Mom had been peed on - good thing a change of clothes was only a few steps away! Thanks for having me back again mom & dad - your daughter is beautiful and don't worry - I have lots of great shots without any trickles!

When this mom & I spoke a few months ago, she said she wanted to include her daughter in her maternity session photos. When I first met "J" last night I was greeted by a beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed 3 year old who was full of spunky fun and had a great smile! I wanted to do something special for "J" so I told mom to bring a change of clothes for both of them! At the end of the session I pulled out the fingerpaints and "J" got ready to work her artistic magic on mom's tummy! I think they both had a great time & even Dad got in on the action at the end and wrote the "potential" baby name on the tummy - that picture is just for them though - it's a secret!

One finger wasn't enough anymore - it was definitely a two hand job!

Summertime Fun! - Newmarket Child Photographer

This week our house was full - the finished basement finally got put to good use! "A" had his grandparents, aunt, uncle & cousin from Winnipeg come out to visit and we had a great week! I've had a chance to take my camera out a lot more than usual this week so I thought I'd share just a few pics! "A" loves water - he spends hours everyday pouring water from one container to another and splashing in his pool - this week though we hooked up the sprinkler and he had a blast!

He ran head first into the sprinkler trying to drink the water at least 20 times - he couldn't care less how much water got up his nose - crazy kid!

My neice is just a chubby ball of cuteness and lucky for me she was here at one of my favourite baby ages to take photos!

All little girls need to have a tutu so Auntie Tiffany made her one - isn't she just the cutest!

One last photo because "A" just learned how to swing like a monkey this week on his playset - he's really becoming a little boy :-)

A Little Sneak Peek from a few Greek Baptisms

I was asked to photograph my first Greek baptism this past February by a close friend and I have to say that I had no idea what to expect - she told me I had to wear a skirt and could I take some photos of the small family ceremony. What I didn't realize was that when Greeks refer to a small family event, it usually involves at least 100 people! Once I got over my initial shock, I pushed my way through the crowd and sought out the prime spot (this first baptism was standing room only)! They really are beautiful events - there are so many parts to the ceremony and each part is full of such elaborate & ornate detail - the church, the baptismal urn, the child's clothing, the cross, the candles, the blessing....

The ceremonies are spoken completely in greek, which during the 1st baptism was a little un-nerving as I had no idea what was happening but now that I have a few more under my belt I seem to be able to predict where I need to be to get the shots the parents are hoping for. Here are just a few photos from the ceremonies I have attended this year - I have chosen not to include people photos as I think these events really are a private affair, but I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the details I mentioned.

The "D" Family - Newmarket Child Photographer

I know I've been a little absent here on the blog - I desperately needed a little R&R so I've been spending some quality time with my little guy in the summer sun! This week though I had 2 sessions....the first was on Sunday and I have to say that I think I am quickly becoming a pro at shooting Greek baptisms! I haven't posted anything from the sessions I've done this year but I hopefully will put together a small post in the next week with some random shots of these grand events.

My second session was of this fantastic family of 5! These boys were full of energy - although I don't think I've met any boy under 5 that isn't bouncing off the walls! We had lots of fun - sorry about all of the pillows on the floor "J" - the boys needed a soft landing pad!

Shooting a family of 5 with 3 small boys under the age of 5 definitely presents its challenges! Mom & Dad sure know how to set a great example - I love this one!

Mister "S" had the cheesy smile down pat but once he started telling me his knock knock jokes he had us both laughing up a storm - have you heard the one about the banana???

Little "B" couldn't stop smiling for me - seriously - how cute is he!

I couldn't resist including this one - definitely one of my favs!

Baby "W" is just full of chubby baby cuteness - I could just eat those toes!

Take #258 - well not quite but almost! Did I already say that shooting a family 5 had its challenges!

The last time I photographed this little guy he was just a few weeks old - now he's almost 9 months and is crawling everywhere - time flies! Get baby proofing mom - he'll be into those cupboards before you know it!

Another Beautiful Belly - Newmarket Maternity Photographer

This mom is bursting at the seams - her little one is due in just a couple of weeks so I was happy to be able to squeeze her photo session in before the big day arrives! By the time a mom gets to 38 weeks, moving around gets a little more complicated (speaking from personal experience!) - but this mom was great and I think we captured some beautiful images of her & her belly. 1st Maternity Sneak Peek! - Newmarket Maternity Photographer

I had my first maternity photo session last Friday and Mom & I had a blast! We have both been planning for this session for months now (mom sent me an email when she was only 3 months pregnant and of course I was happy to oblige!). We were both so excited that we just spent the afternoon trying different poses & costume changes - it was tons of fun and I think we captured lots of beautiful images that Mom & Dad will be happy with - now I can't wait for their little girl to arrive!

This family is off to Italy next week - one of my favourite destinations in Europe - so here's a few sneak peeks before I get cracking on the rest of their photos so they have something to show Grandma next week!

Little "L" was as happy as can be - he certainly made my job easy and I enjoyed every minute of my time with him - Dad's a huge football/soccer fan so keep a watch out - in 20 years this little guy could be the next David Beckham!

A Day at the Park.... - Newmarket Family Photographer

Mom already has her gallery but I wanted to share a few of their images with the rest of you. I absolutely loved their photo session - they were happy just to play with their kids at Fairy Lake for the morning and let me fade into the background and take photos of them "just being" a family - I love to capture moments like these....

I got the "Sears" shot too (aka all their smiling face "looking" at the camera) - but I think these photos really tell a story about how much they love just being with their kids - and in years to come isn't that what everyone wants to remember :-)

A slight change...

After much thought I have made the decision to increase my session fees. I strive to provide all of my clients with the highest quality images possible - after all that's what you pay me for! Each and every image is carefully editted and nothing but time and attention to the smallest detail can produce the end results.

My new session fees will take effect as of June 1st 2008 - for anyone that books their session before June 1st, I will still honour my current prices.

Session fee: $175.00 for up to 5 immediate family members (i.e. mom, dad & children)
Each additional person: $25.00 (i.e. grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins)
Newborn Session fee: $300.00

As always, this fee includes my time and talent and your high resolution digital files on CD.

Sometimes I just instantly connect with a client and this happened to be one of those times for me. I walked into their living room, curled up in a chair and we chatted like we had know each other for years :-) This family is beautiful - inside & out and I was so happy to capture the arrival of their newest member! Little "H" was a trooper, but he certainly didn't give in easy to the sandman! 2 photo sessions and 6 hours later - he finally konked out for a few sleepy poses! I certainly got my baby fix this week - he was such a doll!

Little "D" is such a cutie and I can't wait to take more photos of her at her birthday party in a few weeks!

"M" is a little stunner herself with her long curly locks and certainly loved the camera!

Big brother "L" was determined to be serious until Dad told him the spiders were coming to get him!

Catching candid photos of 3 little ones can be tricky - very rarely do they ever sit or stand together in one place! Thankfully Dad was there to entertain the troups & with a little bribery we got a few shots! Thanks "J" for the singing and dancing act!

Spring is finally here! - Newmarket Child Photographer

I'm back from Chicago - the workshop was fantastic and Chicago was a great city to stroll around. It definitely lived up to its name - a little cold & windy!!! Certainly nothing like these past few days - it's so nice to finally get outside without having to dress in a million layers! We actually had shorts on today! I can't wait to start taking my clients outside for their sessions!

I didn't have time to edit this last session before I left, so here is a belated sneak peek of this cute little guy! Mom had me take photos of him & his sister just before Christmas last year - he's changed alot in these past few months and he definitely kept me on my toes! He's the same age as my son, so I knew I was in for an active session and he certainly didn't let me down - he was tons of fun and full of smiles!

Only 4 more sleeps until I head to Chicago! I'm very excited to be attending a photography workshop run by one of the best (if not the best!) children's photographers in the US, I can't wait to hear what she has to say to the group .... and it will be nice to get a few full nights sleep and maybe a little sightseeing with my hubby since we've never been to the windy city! A big thanks to Nanna for taking care of the kids :-)

This week has been a little busy....the weather finally felt like spring so Aidan & I took the wagon out for a spin, managed to twist a few back muscles, which left me on the couch reading him stories until Daddy got home - lol! Still managed to get through my 2 photo sessions this weekend though! Here is a sneak peek from the first - I'm always happy to reconnect with old friends - this little one is #2 for my uni friend and she is just as cute as their first!

Little "T" was an Easter Sunday baby and mom had the cutest Easter Bunny outfit that big sister had worn for her 1st Easter - it was a little big, but still adorable!

It was great to see you both again & finally get to meet your growing family! See you in the summer!

Welcome to my New Blog! - Newmarket Photographer

Well, I've finally decided to join the rest of the photogs out there and start a blog. I will do my best to update it weekly with sneak peeks from my client's photo sessions as well as with any specials and new products that are available. I have a hard time keeping up with my laundry these days though so bear with me....this could prove challenging some weeks!

Here are a few of my favourites from recent photo sessions over the past couple of months....

Little miss "A" was ready for a nap but not before I caught a couple great snaps of her and her brother "V"! Thanks S & P for having me and I'll see you all again in May for A's baptism!

Miss "M" was a real little cutie and didn't stop smiling through the entire session! Looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

"S" and I had a great time during her session - she has a beautiful smile and I had a tough time choosing my favourites! Until next time S....

Our best friends had their 3rd (& final???) son at the end of January and I was so happy to be able to capture these photos of "E" for them - like his brothers D & C - he is a real charmer!

I couldn't resist those big blue eyes, so big brother "C" got into the photo session too!
